Train Washing Systems
With the DBF Brand, we build Automatic Train Washing Plants that respond to very different needs. With more than 25 years of experience and our R&D infrastructure, we have a structure that can meet special demands and meet every new challenging project.
Train Washing Machines are fixed facilities in terms of their main structure and are designed to wash trains, high-speed trains, locomotives and underground trains by passing vehicles at a constant speed or moving washing devices over the fixed vehicle.
In our facilities, wagons can be passed through the washing units with their own traction and operator driving control, as well as efficient washing can be achieved by controlled movement at low constant or variable speeds thanks to our special wagon puller systems.
To operate the system, we install PLC computerized and SCADA controlled systems. In addition, the Camera Control System can be installed in-house at the facility site. Train washing and drying systems consist of various units. These units are placed in the facility in accordance with their functions and are automatically switched on and off according to the washing sequence.
Locomotive and Train Washing Systems We Established
FRONT WATER, DETERGENT, SHAMPOO, WAX SPRAY BELTS
They are units formed by placing nozzles along one or two lines to form a water curtain at a certain pressure and flow rate placed at certain intervals to wash the entire vehicle surface. As the vehicle passes through the washing belt, water will be sprayed on the vehicle and the spraying process stops when the vehicle is finished passing.
In the polishing process, the polishing chemical that helps drying is sprayed intensively at a certain flow rate over the entire surface of the washed vehicle. The polish also prevents water from adhering to the surface before drying. It is mounted on an arch-shaped construction. The dosing amount on the line can be adjusted with the dosing pump.
Train washing systems are fixed installations and are used for washing trains, locomotives, wagons, subways, trams, etc. with the passage of the vehicle at constant speed or the movement of washing devices over the fixed vehicle. They are designed for washing vehicles. Horizontal brushes, 45 degree angled top corner brushes, top brush washing, side brush and pressure washing belts, emolient (dirt softening) belt, chassis washing and drying unit can be optionally added to our models.

AUTOMATIC MOVING NOSE WASH UNIT
Located on both sides of the train track, these separate but parallel Nose washing units with phase difference move on the track. With the automatic moving nose washing unit, especially the nose sections of High Speed Trains with special profile are washed. The vehicle is stopped and the nose is washed.
Thanks to the special moving design of the brush system, the entire vehicle nose is washed perfectly. The units have chemical dosing and spraying systems on them. The system has the ability to move robotically forward and backward along the nose of the vehicle on special rails.
PRESSURIZED CHASSIS AND BOGIE BOTTOM WASHING SYSTEM
FABRIC SOFTENER DETERGENT DISPENSER UPRIGHT SIDE, TOP CORNER BRUSH AND SKIRT BRUSH UNITS
It is an automatic system that allows the detergent sprayed on the side surfaces of the vehicles to be washed, the radius part on the side walls and the side corners of the ceiling and also on the side skirt surfaces to penetrate through the brushes. By means of motion differential pressure pressure controlled pneumatic systems, homogeneous distribution of softening detergent is ensured and washing efficiency is increased.
BRUSH WASHING UNITS
Top Corner Brush Washing Unit:
The radius on the side walls of the vehicle and the side corners of the roof are washed with sprayed water and brushing.
Brushes are mounted on freestanding constructions. Washing efficiency is at the highest level thanks to the pneumatic piston with electronic power pressure control of the brush movement.
Side Skirt Brush Unit:
It is ensured that the side skirt surfaces of the vehicles to be washed are washed by brushing with water sprayed on them. Movable vertical brush blocks are opened by pneumatic cylinder piston force.
Upright (Side) Brush Washing Unit:
The side surfaces of the vehicles are washed by brushing with sprayed water.
The system, where the movement is provided by a pneumatic piston with Differential Pressure Control, is equipped to apply different pressure to each vehicle.
HIGH PRESSURE WASHING-RINSING UNIT
After brushing the vehicles, all surfaces are washed with high pressure water. The unit washes all surfaces of vehicles at high flow rate and under 50-100 bar pressure. Washing is provided by special pulse nozzles placed on the main construction with up and down robot movement.
SURFACE WATER SWEEPING-DRYING UNIT
Vehicles that have completed the rinsing and polishing process are dried by sweeping the water on them with the air blown by high-speed fans. There are air blowing fan – motor groups placed at different angles on the main construction. The compressed air blown by the fans is designed to be delivered gradually, ensuring maximum drying efficiency.
COMPUTER-AIDED AUTOMATION AND CONTROL SYSTEM
The washing plant operates fully automatically with PLC computer control with all units and can be controlled from a single center. SCADA system is available to monitor the operating status of washing units. Thanks to this system, it is possible for the user to obtain information about the control, control, operating status and malfunctions of the car wash units. By means of the monitor system on the main control console, information such as the operating phases, malfunctions and location of the devices on the system diagram, water pumping and recycling processes in use, water temperature, air and water pressures, energy usage of the facility, current values drawn by the brush motors, critical level amounts of water and related chemicals, open-closed status of electric valves and timing, and the instantaneous position and washing process status of the Movable Nose Washing Machine can be displayed on the screen. It includes a warning system for critical levels, especially related to water and chemical levels.
There is also a PC computer system on the control unit where daily activity reports and washing information about the washed vehicles are displayed.
CAMERA CONTROL SYSTEM
The CCTV System can be designed and implemented in-house with different camera numbers to ensure that all washing operations carried out consecutively from the entrance of the train to the Washing Facility until its exit are displayed on the screen with all aspects of the vehicle at the same time and the operations are recorded.
WASTEWATER TREATMENT AND RECOVERY SYSTEM
Oil, soot, carbon dust, sludge, detergent, drying polish and similar dirt accumulated on the vehicles will remain in the washing residue water, and a Waste Water Treatment and Recovery Device is installed in order to both treat the water discharged to comply with local regulations and to treat the dirty water and recover it for use in the washing facility in order to save washing water. Physical, Chemical and Biological treatments can be installed by us according to the purpose.
It is ensured that the Waste Water Treatment and Recovery system operates sequentially and efficiently, fully compliant with the operating and operating conditions of the existing wash plant.
Our company is also in technical cooperation with world leading companies in the high-tech Biological Treatment and Recycling sector.
In addition, clean water inlet filtration, conditioning and softening, demineralizing, reverse osmosis units are also installed according to need.
DE-lClNG, ANTI-ICING AND WATER HEATING SYSTEMS
On cold days in winter, ice and snow accumulate on the chassis and bogies of trains. This causes damage to critical components such as connections, cables, bearings and brakes. In order to reduce these accumulated ice masses, de-icing systems are installed with pulsed hot or cold and de-icing chemical application. It is necessary to prevent the accumulation of snow and ice on vehicle surfaces on cold days. For this reason, we produce the Anti-Icing Unit at the exit of the Vehicle Washing Facility, where the heated water and chemical mixture will be sprayed on the bottom and wheel – bogie side surfaces of the vehicles in an optionally closed heated space to the clean vehicle.
TRAIN WAGON PULLING SYSTEM
In our facilities, wagons can be passed through the washing units with their own traction with operator driving control, or efficient washing can be achieved by moving them at low constant or variable speeds with inverter control thanks to our special wagon puller systems.
